Fake IPS identity, job scams; youth held after minor girl becomes pregnant

KOTTAYAM: A 21-year-old man who allegedly posed as an IPS officer and raped a minor girl, resulting in her pregnancy, has been arrested by the Kottayam police. The arrested man has been identified as Adithyan, a native of Vadavathoor.

Police said Adithyan befriended the girl through Instagram after falsely claiming to be an IPS officer. He allegedly later pretended to be in love with her and sexually assaulted her. The alleged deception came to light after the girl became pregnant. Following a complaint from the girl’s family, police registered a case and arrested the accused.

Police investigation also revealed that the accused had allegedly carried out several other frauds using the fake identity of an IPS officer. He is reportedly an accused in several cases, including those related to allegedly cheating people by offering fake job opportunities.
Police have registered a case against him under various sections, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
