THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 600 employees laid off by American company CorroHealth will soon land new jobs in other IT companies. The decision comes after discussions held by Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty with the Group of Technology Companies (G-Tech), an association of IT companies. The employees will be provided jobs in G-Tech member companies on the merit of their qualifications. For this, G-Tech will open a special recruitment platform where the employees fired by Corrohealth can upload their profiles.
Under-skilled employees will be given skill training in new technology. The agreement was reached during discussions held by the Minister with G-Tech Chairman Jijo John and Secretary Ronnie Sebastian. The Minister said that the government is now focusing more on attracting Global Capability Centres. It is hoped that this will help overcome the crisis in the employment sector. For this, a new GCC policy will be introduced soon. Through this, the youth will get more opportunities, the minister said at a press conference.
Minister Kunhalikutty said that public sector companies in the state are in a severe financial crisis. He also clarified the immediate need to issue a white paper in this regard.
