Migrant labourers end protests after government informs to send home bodies

protests

PALAKKAD: The bodies of the migrant labours who were fatally knocked down by a train at Kanjikode were taken for post-mortem. With this, the colleagues of the dead have ended their protests. The government had informed to send home the bodies of the three. The labourers ended their fasts after the government informed to bear the expenses of the labourers accompanying the bodies.

The dead have been identified as Hari Om Kunal (29) Aravind Kumar (23) and Kanhayi (21), natives of Jharkhand. The bodies were found at the track near the IIT at Kanjikode last night at 10.30 pm. Hari Om Kunal was found dead and the other two were critically injured. Though they were taken to the district hospital, their lives could not be saved.

The enraged migrant labourers alleged the incident as a murder and attacked the fire force personnel who came to take the bodies. Six of the personnel sustained injuries in the attack. The labourers also attacked their ambulance. The conciliatory talks that started in the morning ended a few minutes back.
