NEW DELHI: BCCI’s selection panel has announced the Indian squad for the West Indies tour starting from August 3. The team, which will be led by Virat Kohli, will play 3 each T20Is, ODIs, and Tests during the tour.
Three squads have been named by the committee for the three formats. While Rohit Sharma makes a comeback to the Test squad, pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami along with Hardik Pandya have been rested for the limited-overs formats. Opener Shikhar Dhawan, who got injured during the World Cup, will also make his comeback to the limited-overs squad.
Chief selector MSK Prasad also announced that former skipper MS Dhoni has informed them that he would be unavailable for the tour owing to his commitment to the Army. Meanwhile, Rishab Pant will be playing the role of the team’s first-choice wicketkeeper in ODIs and T20Is whereas Wriddhiman Saha has been called back to the test squad.
The selection committee also named young pacer Navdeep Saini and spinner Rahul Chahar in the team’s limited-overs squad following their impressive performance in domestic cricket.
