Kerala confirms 118 coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, 42 patients test negative

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state has confirmed 118 new coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, health minister KK Shailaja said. The state has been reporting over a 100 case daily for 10 days consecutively now.

Of the new cases,26 are in Kannur, 17 in Thrissur, 10 each in Kollam and Alappuzha, 9 in Thiruvananthapuram, seven each in Ernakulam and Kozhikode, 6 in Kasaragod, 5 each in Kottayam, Malappuram and Wayanad, 4 in Idukki and Palakkad, and 3 in Pathanamthitta.

Among the new cases, 68 persons had returned from abroad and 36 persons had returned from other states. 14 persons, including five health workers in a private hospital in Malappuram, developed the disease through contact.

Meanwhile, 42 coronavirus patients tested negative for the disease on Sunday. As of today, there are 2015 active cases under treatment for the viral disease at various hospitals in Kerala. 2150 persons recovered from the disease.

Over various districts in the state, 1,75,734 persons are under observation with 1,73,123 persons in home/institutional quarantine and 2611 in hospitals. On Sunday, 335 persons were admitted to hospitals.
