Heavy rain expected in Kerala in next 24 hours; yellow alert issued in five districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday warned of severe rain in the state in the next 24 hours. Following this, a yellow alert has been issued in Idukki, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod districts on Friday. Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargod have been issued a yellow alert for Saturday as well.

According to IMD, these districts are likely to experience 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rain in the next 24 hours. It has also cautioned people residing near river banks, areas prone to landslides and in coastal areas.
