CHERTHALA: The excise team, which inspected a minibus that was parked on the National Highway on Tuesday, discovered 1750 litres of spirit! Two persons from the minibus escaped as soon as they saw the excise team. The incident took place around 1 am on Tuesday near Cherthala railway station. The inspection was carried out by the Alappuzha Excise Enforcement and Anti-Narcotics Special Squad on the basis of confidential information received by the Alappuzha Deputy Commissioner of Excise.
The bus named Kalidasan carried the board 'Chendamelam program luggage.' The spirit was stored in 50 35-litre cans under the vehicle's seats and trunk.
