Actress attack case: Verdict likely in May; it would turn decisive for Dileep

KOCHI: In the actress attack case, the cross examinations of main witnesses are almost over in a special CBI court in Ernakulam. The verdict is likely to come out in May.

The hearing of the attacked actress, Manju Warrier, Kunchacko Boban, Edavela Babu, Bindu Panicker, Remya Nambeesan, Rimi Tomy, actor-director Jean Paul Lal and actress Geethu Mohandas is complete.

The witnesses left to be examined are actor Siddique, actress Bhama, P T Thomas MLA and actor-MLA Mukesh. Along with the charge sheet, police have submitted the witness’ list of 359 persons, 161 incriminating documents and 250 mainours.

Among them, the court had decided to cross examine 136 persons.

But in the first phase of examination till April 7, the court had excluded actress Samyuktha Varma and director Sreekumar Menon. The court had examined the husband of the attacked actress and her relatives. As part of the trial, the court had also cross-examined people who stayed with main accused Pulsar Suni in his hideouts.

The verdict is expected in May as the Supreme Court had asked for completion of the verdict within six months. The incident pertaining to the case happened on February 17, 2017 when the actress went to Kochi from Thrissur in connection with a shooting. She was abducted, attacked and her offensive videos were taken inside her car.
