KANNUR: The probe in the suicide case of Sajan, an industrialist in Anthoor, has been winded up. Police are winding up the investigation without charging anyone with abetment to suicide in the case. The police has given a clean chit to municipality chairperson P K Shyamala related to it. Permission was delayed to the convention centre due to the defects in the construction. The investigation report mentioned no lapses from the part of the municipality.

Sajan Parayil of Kottali in Kannur committed suicide after completion certificate to the convention centre built at a cost of Rs 15 crore, was denied. Sajan, who was working in Nigeria, started construction work on the centre at Bakkalam in Kannur, after returning from there three years ago. From the beginning, the municipality had voiced many objections against the auditorium. They had directed to demolish a part of the building in one stage. His relatives alleged that he took the drastic step depressed over it.

Meantime, the investigation team found that financial difficulties and other problems may have led to the suicide. A report on winding up the probe will be given soon. P K Shyamala said that she had not intervened in the issue. The controversy had then shamed the CPM. There was an attempt to attack me and the party, she said. Presently there are no problems with Sajan’s family, she told the media.
