'Employment for 10 lakh people, welfare pension to be increased to Rs 1500'; LDF releases manifesto for local body elections

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has released its manifesto for the upcoming local self-government elections. It has put forward the slogan 'One vote for development, one vote for social harmony'. The manifesto places more emphasis on welfare schemes. The LDF claims that it will create more jobs.

One of the important promises in the manifesto is that the welfare pension will be increased to Rs 1,500 from January. A master plan will be prepared for poverty reduction. According to the manifesto, ten lakh people will be provided employment under the leadership of local bodies and five lakh families will be provided houses through Life Mission.
