THALAYOLAPARAMBU: Woman dies after electric line fell on top of a scooter she was seated along with her family. Rashmi (35) of Kadathuruthy Aappanchira Poozhikkol Ulladamkunnel is the deceased. Her husband Prasanth and younger daughter Abhimnya escaped miraculously. The father-daughter duo suffered injuries and was taken to a private hospital.

The accident was around 4:30 pm near a transformer at Kalarikkalthazhe in Keezhoor-Aappanchira Road. The family was returning home after purchasing footwear for Abhimanya. The snapped electric line entangled the bodies of all three. The scooter went out of control as Prashanth and Abhimanya were thrown onto a sand dune intended for farming purpose while Rashmi was thrown into a waterlogged area. The electric was tangled on Rashmi’s hand.

On hearing the screams, Ratheesh-an auto-rickshaw driver, and Vinod-a native, tried to rescue them by stepping on to the field. They too were electrocuted. Subsequently, the transformer’s fuse was removed before the rescue attempt. All three were taken to hospital, but Rashmi couldn’t be saved.

The dead body is kept in the mortuary of a private hospital here. Prasanth and Reshmi’s elder daughter: Abhirami.
