Coronavirus: Kerala announces restrictions at Govt offices, temples

office

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government on Friday announced a number of measures to tackle the spread of novel coronavirus.

As per the instructions put forward by the government, only 50 per cent of employees need to be present in government offices every day. The employees will be made to take turns on alternate days. Holidays have been declared on all Saturdays until March 31. An order regarding this will be issued soon, sources said.

The new timings will be applicable to employees belonging to B, C and D groups that constitute the majority of government employees.

Meanwhile, the authorities have also decided not to allow pilgrims to the Lord Ayyappa temple at Sabarimala in Pathanamthitta district for the annual festival beginning on March 29 to check the coronavirus spread. The Guruvayur Lord Krishna temple at Thrissur will also remain closed for devotees from March 21 until further notice, officials said.
