Authorities to take strict action to avoid public gathering in Kasargod district

corona-virus

KASARGOD: In an effort to contain the spread of coronavirus, authorities have imposed strict regulations in Kasargod district. With 19 persons testing positive for coronavirus in the district so far, officials are taking strong measures to ensure that people do not gather in any part of the district.

According to District Collector Dr Sajith Babu, action will be taken against all those who violate the instructions. "From now on, there will not be any route map preparation and requests. We will take strong action against those who violate the instructions by coming out on the streets," he said. Police were seen stopping vehicles at different parts in the district. The collector also added that shops will continue to function in the district from 11 am to 5 pm. The authorities have also asked the public to refrain from unnecessary travels. Even those who are heading to hospitals would be allowed to continue only after producing necessary documents, the collector said. It must be noted that prohibitory orders were imposed in the district from Sunday night onwards to avoid community spread of coronavirus.

Prohibitory orders were also imposed in Kozhikode district on Sunday. The orders which demanded shops providing essential commodities to function from 10 am to 7 pm every day, also imposed restrictions on public functions, festivals, celebrations, examinations, religious programs and hospital visits in the district.
