THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: When the government is more vigorously implementing the Covid 19 restrictions, in the wake of its super spread, sources say that Chief Secretary Vishwas Mehta and family has reached the guest house in Ponmudi, a famous tourist spot. Chief Secretary and his family have reached the guest house by Sunday evening. On Sunday morning itself four rooms were booked for the chief secretary. The guest house officials were given the message that a VIP is coming, get the rooms ready.

The chief secretary and his family have reached Ponmudi at a time when all major tourist spots were shut down following the Covid-19 protocol. Ponmudi is still closed down for tourists. Chief secretary and his family’s vacation celebration comes in the wake of this situation. A woman official in Chief secretary’s office was also confirmed for Covid-19 and he should have gone to quarantine. Chief secretary has reached Ponmudi without following quarantine.

Apart from this, the state is reeling under heavy rains. Chief secretary is also the chairman of state disaster response force. Therefore, under these peculiar circumstances his visit to Ponmudi has set off a controversy.
