വാഷിംഗ്ടൺ: യുഎസിലെ മിഡ് ടേം തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് ഡൊണാൾഡ് ട്രംപിനും റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കൻ പാർട്ടിക്കും വലിയ തിരിച്ചടിയായിരുന്നു. യുഎസ് കോൺഗ്രസിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണം റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കൻമാരിൽ നിന്ന് ഡെമോക്രാറ്റുകൾ പിടിച്ചെടുത്തു. ഉപരിസഭയായ സെനറ്റിലും അധോസഭയായ ജനപ്രതിനിധിസഭയിലും വൻ ഭൂരിപക്ഷമാണ് ഡെമോക്രാറ്റിക് പാർട്ടി നേടിയത്. ഇപ്പോഴിതാ ഈ തോൽവിക്ക് കാരണം ഇറാനുമായുള്ള യുദ്ധമാണെന്ന് തുറന്നുസമ്മതിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ് ട്രംപ്.

വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് ജെ ഡി വാൻസ് ഈ പരാജയത്തിന് കാരണം യുദ്ധമാണെന്ന് എക്സ് പോസ്റ്റിൽ കുറിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഇതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് വൈറ്റ് ഹൗസിൽവച്ച് മാദ്ധ്യമപ്രവർത്തകർ ചോദിച്ചപ്പോഴാണ് അത് ഏതാണ്ട് ശരിയാണെന്ന് ട്രംപ് സമ്മതിച്ചത്. 2024ൽ ട്രംപിനെ പിന്തുണച്ച പല വോട്ടർമാരും മിഡിൽ ഈസ്റ്റിലെ സംഘർഷത്തിന് പിന്നാലെ റിപ്പബ്ലിക്കൻ പാർട്ടിയെ കൈവിട്ടുവെന്നും വാൻസ് ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടിയിരുന്നു.
